Among my favorite Spring-time traditions at the Knowlton School of Architecture is the annual in-my-way-a-thon of sophomore studio installations. Competition is fierce among the faithful and students vie for the chance to see their scheme win out over their mates' (who then have the honor to serve on the winner's construction team). Important life lessons come to those in the second year architecture studios... losers use the hammer. or the drill. or the smelly hot glue gun. This year's exhibition seems, once again, to be sponsored the global petroleum industry, big lumber, and dow corning johnson and gamble or whatnot as you can see from the materials illustrated in the photos. Here are a few of my genuine favorites... accompanied by their hastily scribbled 'don't touch' signs.
